Im looking for a quick wide angle lens that works well in low light situations, and that works well in auto settings as well as manual..I prefer zoom for the versatility, but prime suggestions are appreciated too..I shoot mostly with canon digital rebel..
Any suggestions would be greatly suggested!
Help ?:D
Oh I forgot to add that money is an issue so Im looking for a lens around 400-600
Sucks being poor :)

I'd say a 70-200 lens is generally what most comerical guys used, plus you could bump up your ISO a notch or too, it should work in decent low light, but I'd say if worse comes to worse you could always plop it on a tripod and stablize
Do you know of any particular models that have a god rep?

One issue that you will find with zoom lenses is that they aren't as fast (low light capable) as a fixed focal length lens but they do offer more flexibility. Since you specified Wide Angle, I can give you some first-hand experience with one of my favorite lenses for my Canon digital cameras - It is Sigma's professional 14mm EX f2.8 lens. It is half the price of Canon's lenses but very high quallity.

Sigma also makes several Wide Zoom lenses with apertures of f2.8 and are all Pro level (EX) lenses. Check them out at [link]

I've seen 17-35mm f2.8-4 lens priced at $427 at amazon.com but you can look around to see if you find it for less. [link]

I have an assortment of Canon and Sigma pro lenses and I'm really happy with all of them. The Sigma's are great for the price especially with lenses that I don't use too often.

Let me know what you end up getting and how you like it.

a 70-200 is a telephoto zoom, not a wide angle

when it comes to wide angles, it's hard to have your cake and eat it too. "good, fast, cheap: pick two"

your best bet would probably be the canon 10-22mm 3.5-4.5 EF-S (google search it), which retails for around $700. jerry & i have the the 16-35mm f2.8, but you don't want to know how much that one costs. i think sigma makes some cheap zooms, but i've never been impressed with their quality.

feel free to emal me if you have any more questions.
