D. H. LawrenceMy laptop which I NEED for my work is having some issue with the network card or adapter..
So all networks are gone on my laptop and I cant get online as I need to for my work. Greg somehow got it back running last night, but now it is dead as a doornail again..
If someone could help me out and get me back up and running today I would so appreciate it, as I am missing work I cant afford to miss..
PLEASE?!

If you have installed any new software (including games) in the last few days, that could be the culprit. The solution could be to uninstall the newly installed offending software and/or reinstalling the drivers that came with your network card.
Can you provide a little more information:
- Laptop network card brand and model
- Laptop Operating System and version number
- clarify "not working" ... are you able to connect to access points, and simply cannot then connect to the internet. Or can you no longer see any access points at all... Or is you networking software not even loading anymore?
- And can you get Greg to explain what he did to get it working last night... to see if there is something in his solution that might lead to uncovering what the problem was.
- Remove any lead shielding that you may have placed around your laptop (KIDDING!)
Nothing new has been installed.
The problem started yesterday when I got to my boss' house and it just wouldnt go online so I went to go connect and it said that Windows can't find any networks..So I did a diagnose and it says that the computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured, but then I got home and it worked for a lil while, and the same thing happened.
When Greg got home he played with it for awhile..tried reinstalling drivers and it said everything was fine, but then didn't work again..he said he restarted a few times, and then it worked again.
He really doesnt know what set it working.
I tried this morning and it wasnt working yet again.
My wireless router is a Linksys Wireless-G and the network adapter is a nvida nforce networking controller if that helps out at all ?
I am such an idiot when it comes to this stuff
I really do appreciate any help you could offer!

1. Windows (assuming this is Windows OS) Networking... Do you have automatic updates turned on, such that its a possibility that a new Windows update could have caused this problem? Not sure if Greg installed the drivers via software that came with the laptop, but you should hit the Nvidia site and download the newest drivers (maybe use another machine to download em and burn to a CD). Not sure if this is the right page, but [link] shows Network Management Tools v50.23 and v65.23
2. Hardware Failure... Its unlikely that an adapter on the motherboard is going to fail all by itself, but it can happen. Can you connect to the internet via ethernet wire? This could help determine if the problem lies in Windows Networking (no ethernet connection) or isolated to the wireless (yes, ethernet wire works).

I still think you should make sure that your nvidia nforce networking drivers are up to date.
A last resort option could be to do a Windows Restore, taking your OS back to a restore point from last week or so, whenever you believe the system was working fine. NOTE: Windows Restore doesn't work so well - meaning that you might click on an auto restore point date and Windows just doesn't do the restore.
Seems there are some hard drive issues, on top of everything else. Yeah me
Vista restore is a joke...I like the good old days when you just got a ton of windows disks to clean everything up pretty and new..
